What is it like to work in HiTZ

HiTZ is a reference center on Language Technologies. Its aim is to promote research, training, technological transfer and innovation in Artificial Intelligence focused on language and speech. HiTZ is made up of the research groups Ixa and Aholab, the main driving forces —since their creation in 1988 and 1995 respectively— in the area of Language Technologies in the Basque Country. HiTZ is leader in research in Spain, and holds a National Research Award in Computer Science and one of the 15 fellows that the main research association in the area, namely the Association for Computational Linguistics, has in Europe, as well as the winner of the award for the best thesis in Artificial Intelligence in Europe (EurAI 2020). HiTZ is also a member of the Erasmus Mundus+ European Masters Program in Language and Communication Technologies (LCT).

Computing facilities

HiTZ center has it's own computing facilities and two dedicated technicians for support. As a highlight, by the third quarter of 2023 it will include a cluster of 52 A100 80Gb in exclusivity and preferential access to another cluster with 40 A100 80Gb.
