Human-Computer Interaction

Nowadays, computers affect all aspect of our daily lives. It is more and more common even for a person that does not have a computer to come into contact with a technological device or a certain computing system daily. On this daily tasks, the ways and needs of the interaction between human and computer are changing constantly, and thus, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is an important factor to take into account when designing a computer system. The purpose of HCI is to develop new interaction methods and technologies to ensure the creation of safer, more user-friendly and efficient computer interfaces.

Consequently, computer interfaces are increasingly intelligent and active. We work on the development of interfaces based on natural language interacions, namely, the development of dialogue systems.

During the LIHLITH project, on the one hand, we will develop a dialogue system which will learn over time based on past interactions, and on the other hand, we will create a dataset that will be useful for the development of such dialogue systems. Related to this task, we have obtained a prestigious Google Research Faculty Award. Furthermore, we maintain a close relation with several companies to help the transference of technology from university to the industry.
