The HiTZ Center for Language Technology (www.hitz.eus) at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) invites applications for several funded positions in Natural Language and Speech Processing.
The center has received funding for several ambitious projects on the forefront of language models and their societal impact, and is offering a variety of Research Engineer, Postdoc and predoc positions to support those projects. The positions are focused in the following knowledge fields.
- Large Language Models (LLMs): instruction-tuning and benchmarking
- LLMs and low resource languages, especially Basque
- LLMs and Multilingualism
- Multilingual Speech Synthesis and Recognition
- AudioLM
- Multimodal NLP and LLMs
- Machine Translation
- Applications of LLMs

HiTZ Basque Center for Language Technology is a center of reference for Language Technologies. It is a leader in research in Spain publishing regularly in top conferences like Neurips, ICLR, AAAI, ACL with numerous awards including one of the ACL best paper awards in 2024. It hosts two National Research Awardees in Computer Science and one of the 15 fellows that the main research association in the area (Association for Computational Linguistics) has in Europe, as well as the best PhD thesis award in Artificial Intelligence in Europe (EurAI 2020). Furthermore, some of our PhD alumni have founded influential AI startup Reka AI and are working on other successful AI companies such as Cohere.
